You can contact me with a short description of the learner’s level, the topics they are finding difficult, and what they would like to achieve.
For school pupils, it is helpful to know the year group and whether they are working towards National 5, Higher or another qualification.
For university or college students, it is helpful to send the module title, topic list or examples of the type of questions causing difficulty.
The first session is used to understand the learner’s current level, goals and confidence. I may ask the learner to try a few short questions so that I can identify strengths and gaps.
This is not a test. It is simply a way to find out where support is most needed.
After the first session, I prepare support around the learner’s needs. This may include:
Revisiting earlier foundations
Explaining current school or university topics
Working through homework or class examples
Building exam technique through past-paper questions
Setting practice questions between lessons
Progress is reviewed regularly. The aim is to make sure the learner is not just completing questions, but understanding the methods and becoming more independent.
Lessons can be online or, where practical, in person in the Hamilton / South Lanarkshire area.
Fees depend on level, format and lesson length. Please contact Daniel to discuss availability and lesson options.
A typical lesson includes:
Review of previous work
Clear explanation of the topic
Worked examples
Guided practice
Independent attempt
Summary and practice for next time
For school pupils, lesson arrangements should be made by a parent or guardian. Daniel is a member of the PVG scheme for regulated work with children.
